OZ - Gegen das Grau
Loved and hated—OZ is one of the most active graffiti artists the world has ever known. Even after his death, the works of Walter Josef Fischer remain omnipresent in the urban landscape of Hamburg. With a mix of abstract art and radical political messages, he waged war against the monotonous gray of the city and the Nazis. Despite persecution, media slander, and years of imprisonment, he left his mark over three decades—until his tragic death on the tracks. This is a portrait of a man and his art, which, beyond his life, provides a deep look into our society and raises questions about nationalism, community, art, property, and state power.
